About

The Global Digital Stoires blog was established through a collaboration between Dr. Sheila Marie Aird, Associate Professor Emerita and former European Academic Programs Director for the Center for International Education, and Dr. Thomas P. Mackey, Professor of Arts and Media, both at SUNY Empire State University. Today, the blog serves as a resource for the broader digital storytelling community, sharing projects, practices, publications, and perspectives from educators, scholars, students, and storytellers around the world.

Tom and Sheila established this work by co-designing and co-teaching Digital Storytelling as a virtual exchange that integrated the metaliteracy framework. While the flexible model primarily connected SUNY Empire students in the United States and Prague, Czech Republic, it also included learners from Canada and Tirana, Albania.

Their collaboration expanded through related presentations and publications, including a peer-reviewed article about the course design, and culminating in the edited book Teaching Digital Storytelling: Inspiring Voices Through Online Narratives, published in the Innovations in Information Literacy series by Bloomsbury Publishing.

We invite you to explore the blog, join the conversation, and reach out with questions or ideas related to digital storytelling.
